Rochdale Online has announced the launch of its mobile website.
The brand new mobile site has been fully optimized making the website easier to use on a mobile phone.
The launch marks a new era for the family run business which was established in 1998.
The site displays the latest news, A-Z of business listings, from taxis to takeaways and hotels to hairdressers, a job search and a property search.
Rochdale Online’s Graphic Designer, Jon Pudny, said: “This launch recognises the shift from the laptop to the mobile and our strategy is to keep our users at the forefront of the communications landscape. You can now search for anything - from where you want to go for a meal to your dream home - from anywhere.
“We've made our business listings obtainable and specially formatted to be read on smart phone screens along with the jobs and property search. So now users won't have to wait till they get home or to the office to search our listings.”
Managing Director of Rochdale Online, Pauline Journeaux, said: “It has been 13 years since the launch of Rochdale Online and as technology accelerates people are increasingly using their mobiles to access information.
“A study by Morgan Stanley suggests that based on the current rate of adoption, the mobile web will be bigger than desktop internet use by 2015.”
“The launch means we are giving our audience what we have always given them, the very best information in a format that is easy to use and is constantly being updated in real time. Content that is on our website can now be used on the move.
“Technology is always changing and we are continually improving our users’ overall experience.
“The mobile website gives people the chance to check the news whilst on the move as well as searching for businesses, jobs and properties.
“The mobile site is also a great opportunity for Rochdale businesses to be listed, the listings shows their contact details and even provides their location on a Google map – meaning users of our mobile site can contact businesses from wherever they are.”
